The setup

Amanda's husband calls from a stalled business trip to say he needs several extra days, with the breezy tone of a man who assumes she always copes. Then the new neighbor knocks, out of sugar, light bulbs and self-respect, and later asks to borrow her upstairs bathroom. She starts a voicemail to her friend Sarah about him and abandons it halfway. On his way out he praises her knack for making people comfortable, calls her Amanda, and she realizes she never introduced herself.

Episode 2

Over drinks, Sarah gets the full report. The neighbor claimed he read the name off the mailbox, and Amanda is not convinced. She insists she has never been unfaithful; Sarah replies that her husband has, repeatedly, and that it is common knowledge. Amanda recalls an anonymous someone who once tipped her off about his affairs, a stranger she quietly admired. Then Sarah connects the dots out loud, and the episode stops on that question.

This one plays like a thriller pilot that happens to involve a lonely wife. The light-bulb visit is charming, the slip with her name is a genuine jolt, and episode 2 widens the frame with a cheating husband and an anonymous informant from her past. Not much happens physically yet, which is a choice: the suspicion is the seduction. If you want to know who this neighbor really is, the rest earns its pull.
