The setup
Nate's boss is spending a week in Singapore and is paying him to watch over his wife, Lucy. It opens on his check-in call, with Lucy at Nate's elbow feeding him answers. He swears he has not looked away from her once, the first honest thing anyone says. Lucy finds the fee insulting, since her husband once spent as much on her birthday, and she changed into red before his car cleared the driveway. The boss then asks Nate to sleep over, door open, next to her room. Lucy has a better idea than the guest bed.
Episode 2
Episode 2 is short on lines and long on nerve. The boss, still on the phone, sends Nate upstairs to make sure his wife is all right. Lucy greets him like a man who was always going to show up, then asks whether this is an inspection or a visit. Her husband notices the silence on the line. Lucy's response is to make Nate reply to him, right there, and the episode cuts before he finds his voice.
Who's who
- Nate: the hired watchman, polite on the phone and very much not looking away
- Lucy: the boss's wife, unimpressed by the fee and already dressed for disobedience
- The boss: away in Singapore, generous with trust and alarmingly specific about door policy
Viewers who enjoy temptation run by remote control, where an oblivious husband's every order from Singapore doubles as a dare.
You need the husband to be more than a voice: here he is a phone with spectacularly bad judgment.
Verdict: 6.4 out of 10
The premise does the heavy lifting, and it lifts well. Every instruction the boss gives, from staying close to leaving a door open, lands as accidental permission, and the joke holds for both short episodes. Lucy runs the scenes; Nate mostly reassures his employer and slips in one sly remark about her wardrobe. Episode 2 is thin on content but sharp on structure, ending with a husband waiting for a reply that cannot come yet. That unanswered call is a strong reason to keep going.
