Name: Date With My Stepmom review
Rating: 6.7

The setup

Evan comes home to find his stepmom in a dress built for a big night, stood up by his father, who picked work over their dinner plans. She points out, dryly, that the house now holds only the pair of them. Evan then vents to a friend about that dress, his father's marriage and how badly he is failing not to look. She hears every word. His denial falls apart on contact, and she closes the episode by inviting him to take a proper look before the dress comes off.

Episode 2

The follow-up is the same conversation at closer range. She makes him repeat the compliment to her face, then times how long he can hold eye contact, and the result is not flattering. When he raises the risk of his father walking in, she pounces on the logic: he is worried about being caught, not about who she is. He stammers through a non-answer, and she removes one more distraction before the cut.

Who's who

The stepmom: dressed up, stood up, and in a mood to make someone else squirm
Evan: her husband's son, an awful liar with a habit of narrating his own crushes

Verdict: 6.7 out of 10

No subplots, no detours, just one overheard confession milked for every drop of embarrassment. That focus helps: the stepmom's lines are crisp, and the two-second eye-contact joke is the best laugh in the pair. It also means episode 2 is mostly episode 1 continued, with the father's possible return as the only new pressure. If her brand of patient teasing works for you, the rest is an easy yes.
