The setup
Hosting a foreign exchange student was his girlfriend's idea, and she chose Mika, a woman whose English questions are getting interesting. Tonight's vocabulary: what that famous phrase about friends and their benefits actually means. Left to help her settle in while his girlfriend rushes off, he stammers out a definition, and Mika decides the no-strings part sounds appealing. She moves on to another word, tease, and asks whether what she is doing counts. When his girlfriend calls him to bed, he promises two minutes. Mika mentions she learns by demonstration, and that tomorrow his girlfriend works late.
Episode 2
The girlfriend steps into a shower he has timed at twelve minutes, and Mika picks her next idiom, about a line and what happens once it is crossed. Told it means a point of no return, she asks for its exact location. Her own boyfriend calls, suspicious of the study partner, and gets brushed off. With nine minutes on the clock, Mika finally hears a word she knows, and the episode ends on an oops that is clearly no accident.
Who's who
- Mika: the exchange student, a quick study who turns every vocabulary lesson into an invitation
- The boyfriend: the reluctant tutor, polite, flustered, and badly outmatched by her questions
- The girlfriend: the one who picked the houseguest, busy, trusting, and working late tomorrow
Viewers who like slow-tease comedy built on wordplay, with a houseguest whose questions sound harmless and are not.
You need more than a premise; both free episodes build clever setups and stop right before anything happens.
Verdict: 6.8 out of 10
The language-lesson gimmick is a smart engine: each new word gives Mika a reason to escalate and leaves the boyfriend nowhere to hide. Episode 2 keeps it running with a twelve-minute shower as the clock and a suspicious call from Mika's own boyfriend, so now two partners are being lied to. It still stops just short of anything practical, a tease that knows its timing. Clever enough that the paid episodes look tempting, as long as the vocabulary keeps expanding.
