The setup
A handyman is stuck cleaning for a snippy homeowner who wants the place spotless before her husband gets back, and he mutters a crude verdict on her attitude. Then he finds a lamp, and out comes a genie pledging total obedience. Offered anything, he asks her to do the cleaning. She is appalled. Four centuries of service, she explains, through kings, generals and one bishop, and each of them wanted gold, while this one wants his shift covered. The episode closes as she prepares a counteroffer.
Episode 2
Episode 2 is a negotiation in which the genie keeps raising the bid and he keeps passing. Anything, in any quantity, while the lamp stays in his hands; he says he is fine. So she gets specific: pick any woman anywhere, and she will be knocking within the hour. She boasts that every man has a price. His turns out to be the genie herself, and the episode freezes on her asking whether that is his wish.
Who's who
- The genie: four centuries of granting wishes, offended by modest ones, and unused to hearing no
- The handyman: overworked, underappreciated, and so unambitious that his first wish is fewer chores
- The homeowner: demanding and dismissive, with a deadline set by her husband's return
Viewers who want comedy first, with a fantasy twist on the seduction formula and a genie whose patience is wearing thin.
You want heat in the free episodes: both are talk, and the second is one long negotiation.
Verdict: 6.8 out of 10
A man handed unlimited wishes asks for help with the housework, and that single gag makes the series. The genie's outrage is genuinely funny, and episode 2 sharpens it into a bidding war he keeps declining until he names the one thing she never offered. It is talkier than the genre norm and lighter on heat, but the writing has personality. The rest tempts, if only to see how she copes with a master this hard to impress.
