The setup
Episode 1 crams an entire scandal into a minute and a half. She is curled up with her boyfriend when a friend calls: her most private photos are suddenly all over the internet. The boyfriend learns he was never her only subscriber, she spins that into a joke about exclusivity, and he walks. Her parents then refuse to fund an elite campus and offer only Pine Ridge, a strict Catholic college for people the internet has corrupted, which she calls a prison for the devout. Her stepbrother is the only one who comforts her, and he promises to visit.
Episode 2
By episode 2 she is scoffing at the idea that this place can fix her, and she checks in under her online handle, which the administrator accepts without blinking. Then the story skips four months. She has adjusted, her stepbrother has not missed a single visit, and her roommate bluntly asks whether the two of them are sleeping together. Her defense is that he is family. The episode ends on the correction the audience was already making.
Who's who
- The stepsister: a content creator with a leaked archive, zero remorse, and a gift for sarcasm
- The stepbrother: the only person at home on her side, and a very reliable visitor
- The roommate: her new friend, who asks the question every viewer is already asking
Viewers who like a bratty heroine and a forbidden-fruit setup that arrives wrapped in scandal, parental fury, and religious irony.
You prefer a slow burn: episode 1 sprints through a leak, a breakup and a banishment before any romance begins.
Verdict: 7.7 out of 10
Pine Ridge throws everything at the wall in its opening minute and a surprising amount sticks. The exclusivity joke during the breakup is genuinely funny, and the heroine's sarcasm gives the chaos a voice. Episode 2 then jumps four months ahead, which is efficient but skips the culture clash the premise was built for. The stepbrother is still more idea than character. Even so, the roommate's closing jab frames the taboo neatly, and a heroine this unrepentant is fun company.
