The setup

Two years into dating his stepsister's closest friend, the narrator confesses the real problem is the stepsister. Ava and Camila declare a girls' night, banish him from the living room, and catch him spying anyway. Camila sends him to bed with a pointed qualifier attached. Ava dozes off on the sofa early in the film, the way she does every time, and Camila comes to collect him: the ban, apparently, has lapsed. She swears Ava will not stir and promises to keep the noise down.

Episode 2

Ava stays asleep a few feet away in episode 2, and that is the entire thrill. A third friend joins in and, as a loyalty test, settles onto his lap; he passes, to Camila's smug satisfaction. Then Camila tries the same thing and he fails at once. The friend is scandalized by the step-sibling angle for about one second before deciding she loves it. Ava murmurs in her sleep, nobody stops, and Camila closes with an offer.

Who's who

Camila: his stepsister and his girlfriend's closest friend, running every move of the night
The stepbrother: insists he loves his girlfriend, then keeps losing the argument with himself
Ava: the girlfriend, a reliable early sleeper on movie nights and the scene's ticking clock

Verdict: 7.2 out of 10

The engine here is simple and effective: Ava sleeps, everyone else misbehaves, and every rustle from the sofa reads as a threat. Camila is a confident ringleader, and the loyalty test in episode 2 is a smart way to escalate without changing rooms. The cost is sameness, since both episodes play one beat at rising volume. As a dare in two parts it works; whether the rest finds a second idea is the open question.
