The setup
Courtney opens from somewhere down the line, hinting that she and the tenant are now much more than neighbors. Then his own voiceover takes over: a new city, a clean slate, ruined the moment he saw her. Jamie, the landlord, catches him staring and welcomes him anyway, while Courtney manages to get soap on the newcomer within minutes. The tenant decides she is stuck with a dull husband and feels sorry for her. Her narration corrects him: the danger was all his. The episode ends on an unexplained shock and a curse.
Episode 2
Episode 2 brings in Nicole, a neighbor down the street, who greets the tenant with a double entendre and admits Courtney has been talking about him. Courtney plays referee, then borrows him for a quick tech favor with Jamie at the office. One click later she is offering iced tea and memories of wilder days, including a tattoo from a night she cannot recall. He asks where it is. She asks whether he wants to see.
Who's who
- Courtney: the landlord's wife, sunny and helpful on the surface, steering everything from underneath
- The tenant: fresh in town and quick to feel sorry for the wrong person
- Nicole: the neighbor with no filter and a habit of saying the loud part first
Viewers who like suburban seduction with a narrator who knows more than the hero, and neighbors who all seem to be in on it.
You want clear storytelling: the voiceovers overlap, and the first cliffhanger is a gasp with nothing explained.
Verdict: 6.6 out of 10
The best idea here is the narration. Courtney tells us early that the tenant has misread her, which turns every friendly gesture into a small trap. The execution is looser: two voiceovers blur together, the opening cliffhanger is just a startled curse, and Nicole steals the second episode with blunter lines than the title character. The tattoo tease is a decent closer, and the suburban conspiracy mood is worth a look if you like your housewives scheming.
