The setup
It opens with Holly and her husband trading jackpot jokes, then Gretchen arrives at the family beach house for summer break with her boyfriend, Slade. Her father offers him respect and sympathy in equal measure, while her stepmom Holly scrambles his brain on sight. Brittany, Gretchen's best friend, joins the welcome party, but Slade has a question for Holly: does he look familiar? She has no idea, admits she does not keep track of every man she has slept with, and says she is open to a fling regardless.
Episode 2
Episode 2 explains the recognition: years back, Slade was a regular at the Montauk club where Holly danced, and she was his favorite. Holly remembers and asks for discretion, since her husband knows nothing about that chapter. In exchange she promises him a surprise. Then Gretchen and Brittany pass on a Ferris wheel ride and send Slade up with Holly, and at the top, out of sight, she offers him a reminder of what he used to pay to see.

A longer first episode than most, and it uses the time to build a real ensemble: a wry dad, a chatty girlfriend, a best friend with her own history. The strip club backstory is a good twist because it gives Holly something to lose and Slade something to hold over her. The tone swings between sitcom and crude, sometimes in the same sentence, and the finale up in a Ferris wheel is more joke than tension. Still, the secret gives the paid episodes something genuine to play with.
