The setup

Weeks earlier, he had an anonymous night in Miami: names withheld, numbers never exchanged, no follow-up. Tonight he arrives with flowers to meet his girlfriend's mother, and the woman from Miami opens the door. Introductions are excruciating. Mrs. Akira plays the gracious host, accepts the bouquet, and waits until her daughter heads upstairs to change. Then both admit they had no idea. They agree the girlfriend must never know, and she confesses Miami has been on her mind ever since. The episode ends with a laundry room summons.

Episode 2

They meet among the washers for privacy, and he spends the first seconds noting that her daughter is one floor up. Mrs. Akira answers with a reminder of Miami. Then Hannah, as the girlfriend turns out to be called, asks for help with her dress, asks again, and comes looking. Her mother tells him to relax and promises this will be quick. Hannah ends up just outside the door, and Mrs. Akira, after shushing him, proposes they resume.

The premise is in the title and the opener delivers it with zero fat. The doorstep reveal hits in the first five seconds, the flowers make it worse, and the hushed exchange while the daughter hunts for a dress is quietly funny. Mrs. Akira's poise makes the sudden laundry room invitation land harder. Episode 2 keeps the pressure on, with Hannah calling and then hovering at the door while her mother refuses to hurry. The secret has real weight, and that is reason enough to see how long it holds.
