The setup
The first day of boot camp is going great: the narrator has already started a scuffle with a fellow recruit. Their commanding officer breaks it up and sends one of them running up a hill, and the narrator is too busy admiring her to be scared. Then a colonel arrives who shares her surname, Demont, leaving the recruits to wonder whether she is related to him by blood or by marriage. She catches the narrator smirking and orders him to her office for punishment, which he greets like a prize.
Episode 2
The punishment is mostly an inner monologue in a state of panic. He must scrub the mud tracked into her office, on his knees, while she showers nearby and expects him finished by the time she is. A view he was never meant to have turns the chore into a crisis, and he gloats to an absent Tate while trying not to stare. Then she calls him in, sees through his fake cleaning, and announces a surprise.
Who's who
- Demont: the commanding officer, a hard-edged woman who barks orders and seems to enjoy his discomfort
- The recruit: cocky from the first hour and hopelessly distracted by the woman in charge of breaking him
- Tate: a fellow recruit and rival, mostly useful as someone to brag to in his head
Viewers who love a strict woman in uniform and a narrator whose inner voice does the comedy, one panicked thought at a time.
You want the officer to have depth; so far she is a whistle, a glare, and a shower.
Verdict: 5.5 out of 10
The power dynamic is the whole show, and the military setting sells it better than most office versions of this fantasy. The recruit's constant internal commentary is the best joke: he narrates his own doom like a man live-tweeting a shipwreck. The colonel with the matching surname is a smart bit of danger planted early. Episode 2 leans hard on one gag, though, and Demont stays more poster than person. Fun enough to tempt, if the paid run adds actual plot.
